Convincing potential investors of your value proposition and social impact potential is not straight forward by any means, especially if you are a fresh entrepreneur from another culture in a competitive mix of many others, each armed with their own compelling intentions & business plans. San +Co were originally requesting conceptual designs for their human waste cartridge system, and after some discussion we agreed that a clear systemic illustration of their services (including cartridge concepts) was necessary for them to be able to comprehend and communicate their value proposition and win investment. We conducted a thorough systematic breakdown of their services and built it back up into a framework of illustrations that, along with Swapnil Chaturvedi’s charm, helped San + Co communicate their value and win a $75,000 investment competition.
Client: San + Co
San+Co is a for-profit utility provider for families in India’s urban slums. Led by Swapnil Chaturvedi (who’s family have been involved in utilities for generations) they provide sanitation/electricity utilities using a cyclical system based on retrieval, biogas capture, conversion, battery storage, and delivery. They plan to make sanitation and electricity ‘aspirational’ …to nurture the users desire to access to these empowering utilities…..or as Swapnil puts it….’We want to make sanitation SEXY!’
Design Observer recently wrote a blog on San + Co: here.
