Camille Kramer Courbariaux
Co-Founder, YUX Design
As Co-Founder of YUX Design, a pioneering pan-African research and design firm, Camille KRAMER COURBARIAUX champions participatory methodologies and design ethics that amplify local voices across the continent. Her 10+ years of professional experience living and practicing design in Africa has shaped her leadership philosophy around empowering communities through inclusive design practices. She leads high-value projects while advocating for decision-making processes that prioritize local perspectives and contextual understanding. This commitment to ethical design manifests in her strategic oversight of partnerships, program coordination, and quality control systems that ensure authentic representation throughout the design process.
Her passion for participatory approaches drives her work as a senior Design Researcher, where human-centered design processes position community members as creators rather than subjects. Through her methodical approach to mixed-methods research, analysis, concept development, and user testing, Camille has established frameworks that elevate local expertise and decision-making authority. Through YUX, Camille launched the YUX Academy, whose aim is to nurture the next generation of African designers, instilling principles of design ethics and participatory methodologies that challenge traditional power dynamics in the field.
She is also on the board of LOOKA, an innovative quantitative research tool, and Kayfo Studio, a Senegalese mobile game studio, further demonstrating her commitment to creating accessible resources and products that empower organizations and communities. Since arriving in Senegal in 2015, Camille has consistently advocated for local ownership in design practices—first with Concree, supporting early-stage startups to define their own business models, and later with LezGo, creating a SaaS platform informed by regional incubator needs.
Camille holds a Master of Business from Grenoble School of Management and a Master in Product Design from Strate School of Design, combining business acumen with design thinking to advance a more equitable approach to innovation across Africa.
