Karin Carter
Designer & Strategist
Karin is a designer and educator with extensive experience spanning advanced innovation, design consulting, and global education. As an in-house designer, she worked on advanced innovation teams at Nike and The North Face, collaborating with global partners to research, invent, and develop cutting-edge technologies for athletic gear. As a design consultant, Karin has guided both multinationals and start-ups in bringing their ideas to market, while her independent work has supported micro-enterprises in the U.S., Ecuador, Thailand, and Mexico.
In education, Karin has taught Sustainable Design at Stanford University, Design Thinking at The African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, and bilingual primary education in both Denver and the Mexican public school systems. Her diverse experiences have fostered her appreciation for cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural problem solving, indigenous knowledge, resourceful ingenuity, and the courage to embrace new challenges.
Karin holds a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado and an MS from Stanford University’s Joint Program in Design, where she also worked in the Product Realization Lab. Her green innovations have been recognized with first prize in the California Clean Tech Open and featured in Newsweek.
