Madiha Kotb
Immediate Past President, ASME
An independent consultant, Madiha retired from Government services with the Province of Quebec after a long career of 35 years of work in public safety for Pressure Retaining items.A resident of Montreal, Quebec, she is a licensed engineer with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Concordia University in Montreal.
An ASME Fellow and active member of the Society for over 25 years El Mehelmy Kotb held numerous leadership positions within the organization, serving as vice president Conformity Kotb from 2003-2006, on the Board of Governors from 2008-2011 and as its 132nd President 2013-2014. She is now a member of the Committee of Past Presidents and the Committee on Finance and Investment.
Madiha’s efforts and contributions have been recognized by her peers, she is a National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) Honorary member, a recipient of the NBBI Safety Medal, the ASME Dedicated Service Award, the CSA John Jenkins Award and the CSA Award of Merit.
Kotb has served as a member of the ASME Engineering for Global Development committee and was the lead volunteer member for Engineering For Change (E4C), a dynamic and growing community of engineers, technologists, social scientists, NGOs, local governments and community advocates whose mission is to improve quality of life in communities around the world. She has also served as a member of the E4C, LLC management committee and its currently serving on E4C steering Committee.
Madiha contributed to the book “Daughters of the Nile, Egyptian women changing their world”, edited by Dr. Samia Spencer and published by Cambridge Scholars, England. The book tells the stories of 38 women all from Egyptian origin and is meant to change the stereotype of girls and women in the middle east and beyond and to inspire young individuals to dare breaking into different fields and professions. Proceeds of the sale all goes to support 2 not for profit Organizations
