Madiha Kotb
Immediate Past President, ASME
Madiha El Mehelmy Kotb is an independent consultant and retired public safety professional with over 35 years of service with the Province of Quebec. A licensed engineer based in Montreal, she holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Concordia University.
A distinguished leader in her field, Madiha is an ASME Fellow and has been an active member of the Society for over 25 years. She has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as ASME Vice President of Conformity from 2003–2006, as a member of the Board of Governors from 2008–2011, and as ASME’s 132nd President in 2013–2014. She continues to serve on the Committee of Past Presidents and the Committee on Finance and Investment.
Madiha’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including Honorary Membership from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI), the NBBI Safety Medal, the ASME Dedicated Service Award, the CSA John Jenkins Award, and the CSA Award of Merit.
In addition to her engineering achievements, Madiha has been deeply involved in Engineering for Change (E4C), serving on the E4C Steering Committee and as a lead volunteer member. Her efforts with E4C and ASME’s Engineering for Global Development Committee reflect her commitment to improving quality of life in communities around the world.
Madiha is also a contributor to Daughters of the Nile: Egyptian Women Changing Their World, edited by Dr. Samia Spencer and published by Cambridge Scholars. This book highlights the stories of 38 women of Egyptian origin, challenging stereotypes and inspiring the next generation of changemakers. Proceeds from the book support nonprofit organizations.
