Rajiv Bhatia

Rajiv Bhatia is a physician, public health expert, and educator with a career spanning nearly three decades. He practices internal medicine at the Veterans Administration and serves as an affiliated assistant professor of medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

From 1998 to 2014, Rajiv served as Deputy Health Officer for the City of San Francisco, where he pioneered innovative approaches to public health, including health impact assessment (HIA), community health indicators, and open civic data initiatives. Since 1994, he has advised civil society organizations, healthcare systems, and governments on a wide range of public health issues, advocating for evidence-based practices and equitable health solutions.

Rajiv’s current focus includes exploring opportunities to disrupt irrational medical prescribing practices in India, leveraging his expertise to address critical gaps in healthcare delivery.
