Scott Boylston
Graduate Coordinator, Design for Sustainability Program, SCAD
Scott Boylston is the co-author and graduate coordinator of the Design for Sustainability program at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). A prolific writer, Scott has authored four books, including Designing with Society, a guide to socially engaged design, a volume of poetry addressing environmental degradation, and a foundational text on sustainable package design.
Scott is the founder and president emeritus of Emergent Structures, an award-winning nonprofit that facilitates the deconstruction of unwanted houses and the innovative repurposing of materials into community-based resources. He is also a principal at bc+d, a sustainable design consultancy, and a partner at Essentia, a closed-loop, urban food service innovation group.
In addition to his professional roles, Scott is a member of the Founders Circle of the Winterhouse Institute and has served on the state board of directors for USGBC-Georgia and the Governing Council of the National Academy of Environmental Design. He speaks and writes internationally on design and sustainability and has developed a Design for Sustainability course on LinkedIn Learning.
