Welcome Simran Monga, SCAD Fellow at Catapult Design
We’re excited to welcome Simran Monga as our new Fellow at Catapult Design!
Simran joins us with a passion for design that drives social change. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication from Srishti Institute of Art, Design & Technology and an MFA in Design for Sustainability from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), one of the most prestigious art and design universities in the United States.
“We are excited to welcome Simran as our second SCAD Fellow, and I am delighted to continue this partnership between the SCAD students and Catapult Design’s designers,” says Angela Hariche, CEO of Catapult Design. “I’m really looking forward to the innovative solutions that will surely be discovered with Simran on board. Simran has already jumped into Catapult Design projects, bringing her skills and energy to the team. Welcome aboard, Simran—we’re thrilled to have you with us!”
This fellowship is part of Catapult Design’s standing partnership with SCAD. The Savannah College of Art and Design is a private art and design university known for its comprehensive and innovative programs in creative fields. Founded in 1978, SCAD has grown to become one of the leading institutions for art and design education, with campuses in Savannah, Atlanta, Lacoste (France), and an online platform known as SCADnow.
Simran was recently named a winner of India’s Best Design Students 2024. Established in 2015, India’s Best Design Student Awards promote a standard of excellence across diverse design categories, including product design, communication design, digital design, and spatial design. These awards are a recognized symbol of accomplishment, shining the spotlight on exceptional design and showcasing brilliance in a highly competitive design landscape.
Scott Boylston, SCAD Professor and Co-Author of the Design for Sustainability Program, states, “We are thrilled to see Simran accepted as this year’s Catapult Design Fellow. Our program is fortunate to host and mentor a diverse group of talented designers who are committed to driving positive change in the world, and even among this group, Simran has excelled throughout her two years with us. And it continues to be an honor to align directly with Catapult Design, an organization we’ve long admired.”
Our partnership with SCAD was formed in 2021. Its purpose is to help young graduates who have been trained in applying design as a tool for transformative change find opportunity in working with experienced designers as they begin their careers. The efficacy of the partnership is reflected by the fact that its inaugural Fellow, Haleemah Sadiah, is currently a senior designer at Catapult Design.
As we welcome Simran to the Catapult Design team, we look forward to working alongside her and future graduates of the SCAD Design for Sustainability program.
